I wouldn’t normally comment on such an event as what happened last Thursday night in Aurora, Colorado, but after actually being out at the AMC Theaters in Fitchburg Thursday night for the same midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises, it’s hard not to relate to the situation. I didn’t actually see the movie yet due to a much too busy week (and lack of sleep), but I saw a lot of familiar faces and lots of people who were happy and excited to be there. You can’t help but to think of what it was like for the victims in attendance out in Colorado and what you would have done in the same situation. At this time we still don’t know the shooter’s motives for doing what he did, only that he was obviously a deeply disturbed individual. and seeing him identify himself as “The Joker” only deepens the sadness in connecting such a heinous act with what should just be a fictional bad guy in a comic book. All I can say is that our hearts and thoughts are with the our fellow human beings out in Aurora and that this incident shouldn’t diminish our need for enjoying the things we love and that give us something to look forward to. The current plan is to catch the movie next Sunday with a pal from out of town. hope to see some familiar faces who also just want to have the shared experience of seeing a terrific movie that you can lose yourself in for 245 minutes.
Peace.
